The History and Social Sciences program aims to create a knowledgeable and intelligent citizenry with analytical skills and an appreciation for historical research, historical periods and events. We aim to provide options for historical study that extend from ancient to modern civilizations, including government, economics, and global issues.
Our unique history and social science program builds research and analytical skills, critical thinking, and appreciation for global issues, events, and societies. As part of our distinctive curriculum, students learn to read and interpret primary sources, formulate evidence-based arguments, examine historical themes and analyze historical causation.
Our coursework and graduation requirements support students selecting their own path, with a wide variety of courses offered. Our ancient civilization and modern history courses explore historical events, geography and cultures from a variety of angles such as technological developments, agriculture, economics, militaries, entertainment, and arts. Courses in global affairs and issues aim to create informed students that appreciate the complexities and interactions surrounding current problems in modern societies and our world.
