Mystery Solvers: Chemistry Lab
(New!)

4 spots remaining
6/22 - 6/26
A mystery is afoot!  Can we solve the mystery before time runs out?  Using science as your tool, collect and analyze evidence in order to find the culprit. In the labs, use chemistry to reveal fingerprints, detect blood traces, and analyze mysterious substances left behind.  Throughout our adventure, the mystery solvers will be introduced to investigation techniques that applies fundamental chemistry concepts. The detectives will learn about physical and chemical properties of matter, chemical reactions, and analytical chemistry. Each experiment will bring students one step closer to solving the crime!

Computer Lab: Coding and Minecraft Education Edition
Students will explore computer science using computational exercises from Code.org. In Minecraft Education Edition, work collaboratively engineering a detective headquarters and complete challenges.

Strange Science: Slime, Illusions, and Oddities
(New!)
6/29 - 7/2
(4-day camp)
Odd things await in the lab! Don lab coats and goggles, then enter into our Strange Science Labs.  Mix together concoctions that bubble, fizz, and ooze while you learn chemistry. Produce illusions that would mystify a magician using engineering and physics.  Celebrate the strange substances and phenomena that can be created in the lab. The scientists will learn about chemical reactions, optics, and forces, as we measure, mix, and make strange science creations.

Computer Lab: Coding and Minecraft Education Edition
Students will explore computer science using computational exercises from Code.org. In Minecraft Education Edition, work collaboratively to learn about the building blocks of matter and combine elements into new compounds and items.

Mission:  Space
(New!)
2 spots remaning

7/6 - 7/10
An out-of-this-world adventure! Campers learn about rocket design, then build and launch their own rockets. In our space labs, plan a trip to another galaxy, engineer space habitats, and tour the universe using planetarium software as campers learn about galaxies, nebulae, supernovas, and stars. As space explorers, campers launch into the field of astronomy and aerospace engineering, designing and building model satellites, investigating planetary geology, and experimenting with rocket science as they build and launch rockets.

Computer Lab: Coding and Minecraft Education Edition
Students will explore computer science using computational exercises from Code.org. In Minecraft Education Edition, work collaboratively to design and build a space base. Older campers (ages 9 & up) will use the space simulation program, KerbalEDU, to design and launch rockets.

Microscopic World
7/13 - 7/17
Young scientists are introduced to the concepts of the invisible, microscopic world around them! Students will first  learn about the power of microscopes and what they can see under magnification. Each week the class will talk about the microscope universe including atoms, molecules, crystals, DNA, protists, bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Students will peer into microscopes, create models, and perform experiments to examine evidence and effects of these microscopic marvels. Each class will have a brief discussion followed by classroom demonstrations, hands-on activities, and labs.

Computer Lab: Coding and Minecraft Education Edition
Students will explore computer science using computational exercises from Code.org. In Minecraft Education Edition, explore models of cells and design your own microbes in our own research complex.

Physics of the Impossible: Star Wars to Mario
8/3 - 8/7
Impossible? Many of the technologies we have today were once thought to be impossible. We'll examine technologies from popular movies, like Star Wars, or impossible feats from video games, like Mario. With breakthroughs in nanotechnology, physics, and genetic engineering, could some of these impossibilities become possible? Learn about these frontiers of science, then conduct hands-on investigations in chemistry, engineering, and physics that are inspired by the movies and video games we love. Observe the forces in a crash and acceleration due to gravity. Explore chemical reactions and model nanomaterials in this futuristic adventure that considers the impossible.

Computer Lab: Coding and Minecraft Education Edition.
Students will explore computer science using computational exercises from Code.org. In Minecraft Education Edition, work collaboratively to design and build a futuristic civilization.

SUMMER RESEARCH ACADEMIES
(RISING 7TH - RISING 9TH GRADES)

Looking for an advanced science or engineering experience this summer that is both fun and educational? Explore advanced topics in small (10 person), lab-based experiences guided by experienced scientists and engineers. Each week is a different topic, but in each we work as a lab team to research a topic, build or experiment each day, learn new lab or engineering skills, and most of all, have fun doing real studies in advanced topics.
