Science
The Ideaventions Academy science curriculum focuses on developing scientific practices, skills and knowledge with a design based on extensive laboratory experiences, mentoring, and research. Taught by experienced instructors, our courses and graduation requirements provide flexibility to support in-depth studies within a scientific field of interest.
Our science program nurtures and builds student interest in scientific pursuits by allowing students to experience the thrill and challenge of science, growing their knowledge through engaging seminars, speakers and lectures, and training them in scientific practices and inquiry through laboratory experiences.
Our unique coursework offers opportunities found rarely in high school, extending from the high school level to AP and post-AP (university) level coursework, culminating in a student-centered research program. With a diverse and deep set of offerings, students engage in the scientific practices of various disciplines, study current fundamental theories and knowledge, learn about recent scientific discoveries and research, and exercise critical thinking skills.
The Ideaventions Academy science program is designed to support students designing their own path, while challenging them with opportunities for breadth and depth. We require that students take at least one course in two of the three foundational disciplines (physics, chemistry, and biology). Students may choose from either Honors and AP-level courses, and then, if interested in depth, pursue topics at the post-AP university-level. Enrollment in AP and post-AP courses require instructor approval and placement exams to ensure student readiness.
The Ideaventions Academy science program, led by knowledgeable instructors and researchers, is designed to inspire and nurture scientific pursuits through engaging seminars and hands-on, laboratory experiences, preparing students for success in college-level science.
