Life-changing Summer Expeditions
Each year will take us to a different place. Starting in 2015-2016 academic year, our summer expedition focused on a scientific research experience at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The trip involved in depth studies in coastal ecology with excursions to the Wallops Flight Facility, one of the premier U.S. space launch facilities.
For the 2016-2017 academic year, our expedition took us to the Scottish Highlands where we engaged in natural and historical studies. As guests of the House of Aigas, we embarked on daily explorations and guided educational program of historical sites such as the Battle of Culloden and natural sites such as the rock pools of Rosemarkie on the Black Isle.
For the 2017-2018 academic year, we headed to the Pacific Northwest where we combined both science, technology, with history and culture. Starting in Oregon, we experienced the Mount St. Helens Volcano School and learned about the unique geology and ecology of the area. Later we traveled to Seattle, staying at the University of Washington, and visited sites such as Amazon HQ, Microsoft, Starbucks, and Boeing. We ended by visiting a Blake Island and learning more about Native American history and culture.
For 2018-2019 academic year, we traveled to Germany and Switzerland where we visted historical and cultural sites, as well as scientific and engineering destinations such as CERN and the BMW factory.
The 2019-2020 academic year will take us to Ecuador, where we will visit Quito before traveling to The Galapagos Islands. After exploring the Galapagos, we will travel to a cloud forest and learn about sustainable development.
