Application Steps

Our admissions process is designed for kind, collaborative, intellectually curious students. The steps outlined below help ensure strong academic and community fit.
Phase 1. Pre-Application
A) Submit an inquiry through Ravenna to access our pre-recorded Information Session videos.
B) Attend a Parent Tour before applying. Typically held on Tuesdays, tours take approximately one hour. Register through Ravenna.

Phase 2. Begin the Parent Application & Submit $75 fee
C) If you think we might be the right fit for your child, begin the application process through Ravenna. To become an "official applicant," only the parent application form and fee must be received. Additional application pieces may be submitted at a later time.
Phase 3. Complete the Application
D) Request Teacher Recommendations through Ravenna. Two recommendations are required from academic teachers (not family) who have worked with the child in the last year in the areas of reading, writing, math, and or science. For Middle & High School applicants, one must be from a humanities teacher and the other from a STEM teacher. Families should ask teachers in advance and then enter the email address of recommenders in Ravenna.
E) Submit Report Cards. Submit the most recent from this year, plus last two years end-of-year report cards. Unofficial copies are acceptable; they do not need to come directly from the child's current school.
F) If not listed on the report card, please submit the absences and tardies for each of the 3 years as well. Applications with more than 12 tardies and/or absences will not be considered for admission.
G) Learning Plans: Due to the pace and structure of our program, we have limited capacity to accommodate individualized learning plans. If your child has ever had an IEP, 504 Plan, or learning evaluations, full documentation must be submitted as part of the application.
H) IQ Testing. Please note this process often takes the longest out of all the steps, so please plan ahead. To help ease the burden, we offer complimentary CogAT testing once in the Fall and once in the Spring to families who have completed the steps above (through Step G) within one week of the testing date. Phase 4. Admissions Committee Meets
Once steps A-H above have been received, the Admissions Committee meets to evaluate academic, social and emotional maturity, and readiness for our rigorous school environment.
If the student appears to be good candidate for our community, we will invite them to spend the school day with us.
If we are unable to offer a visit day for the student, we will communicate the admissions decision to the family at this time.

Phase 5. Child Visit (by invitation only)
This provides the faculty an opportunity to work with the student in an educational capacity, as well as allow the student to experience our teaching model and environment. We will provide the visiting student with written and mathematical assessments (often done within the classroom environment) to observe how they work with faculty and other students.
Phase 6. Parent Interview (by invitation only)
If the student's visit indicates they would be a good fit for our school, the school will invite the parents for a meeting to discuss our mutual educational philosophy and goals and answer any questions. Admissions decisions will be made within one week following the parent interview.
