Step 1. Attend an admissions event
Join one of our upcoming admissions events. Register for a tour or Open House through Ravenna.
Step 2. Complete the Online Application Form
Submit an online application and pay the registration fee.
Step 3. Submit Available Testing & Academic Records
- Report cards:
- Submit the most current progress report or report cards and the final report from the previous two years.
- Testing Information:
- Review the testing information for accepted tests and choose a test that fits your timeline. Test dates are limited, require advanced registration and scheduling, and it may require up to one month or more to receive scores.
- If your child has ever been diagnosed with a learning disability or difference, emotional difference (e.g., anxiety), and/or receives special services at their current school, we require the submission of all prior testing done as part of the application process, including any IEPs or 504 plans from their current school.
Step 4. Teacher Recommendations
The Admissions Committee requires two recommendations from teachers who are not parents that have worked with the child in an educational capacity in the last year. For middle and high school applicants, one must be from a humanities teacher and the other from a STEM teacher. Recommendations should be submitted through Ravenna.
Step 5. Complete your Application
To be considered for the visit, all application materials must be received. The preferred application deadline is January 17, 2023 by 5 pm EST. Applications are accepted after that date as space allows.

- Application Form (completed online in Step 2)
- Academic records (report cards from this year and last year—unofficial copies acceptable)
- Testing results
- Teacher recommendations
- Application fee: $75 USD
- Any additional records and/or testing if your child has ever been diagnosed with a learning disability or difference, and/or receives special services or accommodations at their current school.
- Essay: "Why Ideaventions?" (for students applying for high school)
Step 6. Invitation for your child to visit
If the application materials from steps 1-4 are complete and the student appears to be a fit for our community, they will will be invited to attend an exploratory visit. This will provide the faculty an opportunity to work with the student in an educational (and fun) capacity, as well as allow the student to experience the teaching model and environment of Ideaventions Academy.
- Select 1st and 2nd graders will be invited to spend the morning (9:15 - 11:45 AM) with us on January 19 or April 30.
- Select 3rd graders and higher will be invited to join us for one day to be scheduled throughout the spring (8:25 - 4:00 PM).
Step 7. Invitation for Parent Interview
After all information has been received, the Admissions Committee will meet and evaluate each candidate individually with a goal of ensuring that admitted students have a successful educational experience at Ideaventions Academy, both academically and socially. The final step of the process is a parent meeting to answer any questions and to discuss educational philosophy and goals.
