Step 2. Attend an In-Person Parent Tour
See our school in action during a Parent-Only School Tour. Tours take approximately one hour. Register through Ravenna.
Step 3. Complete the Online Application Form & $75 fee
While Inquiries and Events are handled through Ravenna only, we accept both Ravenna and the SAO (Standard Application Online) below.
Step 4. Schedule IQ Testing (grades 3-8 applications)

- IQ testing is potentially the longest part of the process if you do not already have testing completed, as the turnaround time can be 4-8 weeks. Please schedule that now, while you complete the steps below. Review the testing information for accepted tests and recommended centers.
Step 5. Request Teacher Recommendations
- Parents should ask teachers in advance and then enter the email address of recommenders in Ravenna

- Middle & High School applicants: one must be from a humanities teacher and the other from a STEM teacher.
Step 6. Complete your Application
To be considered for the visit, all application materials must be received. The preferred application deadline is January 17, 2025, by 5 pm EST. Applications are accepted after that date as space allows.
A complete application consists of the following:

2. Report Cards (Most recent from this year, plus last two years end-of-year report cards. Unofficial copies acceptable.)
3. Testing results
- IQ testing for grades 3-8 required (see Step 4 above)
- For all grades: If your child has ever been tested for or diagnosed with a learning disability or difference, emotional difference (e.g., anxiety), and/or receives special services at their current school, we require the submission of all prior testing done as part of the application process, including any IEPs or 504 plans from their current school.
5. Writing sample:
- Lower and Middle School applicants: Submit sample of student's best writing completed for school assignment.
- High School applicants: Answer the following prompt: "Why do you think Ideaventions would be a good fit for you, and how do you think you would be a good fit for Ideaventions?"
Step 7. Child Visit (by invitation)
Once application materials from Steps 1-6 are complete, the Admissions Committee meets and evaluates the candidate to determine if that students would have a successful educational experience at Ideaventions Academy, both academically and socially. If the student appears to be a fit for our community, we will invite them to spend the school day with us. This provides the faculty an opportunity to work with the student in an educational (and fun) capacity, as well as allow the student to experience our teaching model and environment.
Step 7. Parent Interview (by invitation)
If the student's application and visit indicate they would be a good fit for our school, the school will invite the parents for a meeting to discuss educational philosophy and goals and answer any questions.
Admissions decisions will be made within 2-3 days following the parent meeting.
