Application Steps

Our "Priority Application" deadline is January 18, 2026.
Applications are accepted after this date as space allows through our "Rolling Application" program.

Step 1. Pre-Application

a) Officially inquiry through Ravenna to receive the Ideaventions Academy pre-recorded Information Session videos.
b)
Attend an In-Person Parent Tour, typically held on Tuesdays. Tours take approximately one hour. Register through Ravenna.

Step 2. Begin the Parent Application & Submit $75 fee

c) If you think we might be the right fit for your child, begin the application process through Ravenna. To become an "official applicant," only the parent application form and fee must be received.

Please note: In order to register for the complimentary CoGAT test we offer (when available), this step must be considered an "official applicant." Subsequent application pieces (items d-g below) can be submitted later.

Step 3. Complete the Application

d). IQ Testing. Testing must have been completed within the last three years of becoming an official applicant. Please review our Criteria & Testing page for more information about acceptable assessments, including the complimentary CoGAT we offer (when available) for official applicants. Once your child becomes an official applicant (see Step 2 above), the option to register for the CoGAT test will appear in Ravenna.

e). Request Teacher Recommendations through Ravenna. Two recommendations are required from teachers (not family) who have worked with the child in an educational capacity in the last year. For Middle & High School applicants, one must be from a humanities teacher and the other from a STEM teacher. Families should ask teachers in advance and then enter the email address of recommenders in Ravenna.

f). Submit Report Cards. Submit the most recent from this year, plus last two years end-of-year report cards. Unofficial copies are acceptable; they do not need to come directly from the child's current school. If not listed on the report card, please submit the absences and tardies for each of the 3 years as well.

g). Learning Plans:
Please note that we have limited ability to serve students with unique learning needs. Each application is handled on a case by case basis. If your child has ever been tested for or diagnosed with a learning disability or difference, emotional difference (e.g., anxiety), and/or receives special services at their current school, we require the submission of all prior testing done as part of the application process, including any IEPs or 504 plans from their current school.

Step 4. Admissions Committee Meets To Determine Fit

Once items a-g above have been received, the Admissions Committee meets to evaluate academic, social and emotional maturity, and readiness for our rigorous school environment. If we are unable to offer a visit day for the student, we will communicate the admissions decision to the family at this time.

If the student appears to be good candidate for our community, we will invite them to spend the school day with us.

Step 5. Child Visit (by invitation only)

This provides the faculty an opportunity to work with the student in an educational capacity, as well as allow the student to experience our teaching model and environment. We will provide written and mathematical assessments and observe how they work with faculty and other students.

Step 6. Parent Interview (by invitation only)

If the student's visit indicates they would be a good fit for our school, the school will invite the parents for a meeting to discuss educational philosophy and goals and answer any questions. Admissions decisions will be made within one week following the parent interview.
