Welcome to Ideaventions Academy Summer Camps 2021!

This year we will be offering in-person, full-day summer programs for rising Grades 4th-12th.  We have upper elementary, middle school, and high school programs and courses.  Here is a quick overview our COVID precautions and links to more information about the scheduled programs.
  • COVID Precautions and Managing Risk:
    • In order to offer in-person instruction and reduce risk of COVID transmission, we have four key elements:
      • Building upgrades examples include: Heating and cooling upgrades and modifications including Ultraviolet (UV) sterilization, high filtration (MERV-16), and adjustments to maximize outdoor air intake.
      • Daily cleaning of high-touch surfaces, weekly thorough cleaning and sanitization using Clorox Total 360 system
      • De-densified classroom layouts with 6-foot distancing
      • Touch-free water bottle-filling stations instead of water fountains
      • Hand sanitizing stations, touch-free faucets throughout the building, including signage for reminders of hand-washing and distancing.
    • Reduced density:
      • Small numbers of students: 5 to 10 students per classroom (most will be limited to 8 students).
      • Reduced mixing of students by conducting 4-week sessions. The same children attend all four weeks to minimize the number of new students coming and going.
    • Procedures:
      • Daily health checks including forehead temperature checks before entering the building
      • Social distancing (6 ft)
      • Masks required (except when eating or drinking and during outdoor mask breaks when 6-foot distancing can be ensured). Based on the new variant, double masks may be required at the time.
      • Training of children and faculty on the procedures
      • Under evaluation: Requirement for proof of a negative COVID test within 2 weeks of the start of the program or course.
  • Upper Elementary (rising 4th-6th)
    • We are offering two, 4-week in-person summer sessions. Each session consists of 4 weeks of our award-winning STEM camps. Each week is a different theme or focus. Each day consists of a fun, well-rounded day of activities including:
    • Two hands-on science or engineering labs based on the theme
    • A computer science lab to learn coding and computational thinking, as well as building teamwork and communication skills in Minecraft Education Edition.
    • Daily outdoor time in the form of nature hikes on nearby walking trails.
    • Daily enrichment in either math/logic or literature
    • Lunch and a 30-min science or engineering movie (e.g. Bill Nye the Science Guy (a camp favorite!), Disney Imagineering, Popular Mechanics for Kids)
  • Middle and Early High School (rising 7th- 9th)
    • We are offering two, 4-week in-person summer sessions. Each session consists of 4 weeks of our award-winning STEM camps. Each week is a different theme or focus. Each day consists of a fun, well-rounded day of activities including:
    • Two hands-on science or engineering labs based on that week’s focus
    • A computer science lab related to the topic (simulations, data analysis, research)
    • Daily outdoor time in the form of nature hikes on nearby walking trails.
    • Daily book club on a book related to the theme
    • Lunch and a 30-min science or engineering film (e.g. TED talk, documentary)
  • High School (rising 9th-12th)
    • We offer in-person summer courses. Most courses are 4 weeks long, but some are 5 or 6 weeks. Examples of offerings include:
      • A Historical Perspective on Modern Genetics (1 history credit, 4 weeks)
      • AP Computer Science Principles (1 credit, 4 weeks)
      • Spanish courses (1 world language credit, 5 week)
      • History and Cinema Studies (1 history credit, 6 weeks)
      • Literature Seminar: Tolkien, Chesterton, and Sayers (1/2 English credit, 2 weeks)
      • History of Classical Games (1/2 history credit, 2 weeks)
      • Adventure Literature and Start of Genres (1/2 English credit, 4 weeks)
      • Creative Fiction with Nautical Literature (1/2 English credit, 4 weeks)
  • Note, we are flexible - there is an option to audit the credit-bearing courses if you want to have reduced work, but are interested in taking the course.

Can’t I just sign up for 1-week?  No, unfortunately, to reduce risk, we are holding extended sessions so the same students come each week, teachers and students undergo a pre-camp health screen, and we avoid introducing new students each week. We want to be able to offer in-person programs and we feel this could help minimize risk to students and teachers.

We invite you to learn more about each program and the offerings using the links.
