Process
When we hire you, we want Ideaventions Academy to be a fit for you and your professional goals. We want you to be at Ideaventions Academy for a long time and to see you prosper professionally with us. We have a rigorous multi-step hiring process that allows you to see how we work as well as one that allows us to see how you think and work.
Step 1: Submit your resume and cover letter via email to [email protected]. If you are selected for the next step, you will receive an email with the application and information for the lesson plan (see Step 2). We receive many applications and unfortunately are not able to respond to every email application we receive.
Step 2: Submission of a sample lesson plan and application. We will send you the application form and an assignment for a lesson plan that you create based on a topic we assign you. We are looking for your understanding of our teaching philosophy.
Step 3: Interviews. You will meet with at least three people from Ideaventions Academy. We will be looking at your technical expertise in your particular area as well as for a fit with our culture.
Step 4: Classroom Observation. If selected to continue in the process after the interviews, we will schedule a time for you to 1) Observe of one or more of our classes to see us in action, then 2) We will observe you teaching one of our existing classes (you will lead the class, but the regular teacher will also be there). We will be looking for your ability to manage a classroom, work with gifted children, demonstrated enthusiasm and energy, how you prepare for the class and your ability to deliver the lesson so that it is engaging to the students.
Step 5: Finally! You made it this far! At this point, we will ask you to get fingerprinted, pass a criminal background check and pass drug test. We will also call your references. You will get a conditional offer of employment with the condition that the criminal background check and drug test pass.
Probation Period: All of our teaching positions have a one year probation period.
